Argentinian film, (Un)lucky Sisters is streaming on Netflix. The movie revolves around two sisters who find a stash of money in their recently departed father’s apartment.
I am going to explain the final half an hour of the film in an attempt to make things clear for those who may have questions regarding the plot.
(Un)lucky Sisters Movie Ending Explained
Angela comes downstairs from the washroom to find Jessica absent. She looks at the wall of cash and finds some of it missing.
Then her eyes strike the tablet with a note stuck on it.
The note is from Jessica and it says, “Blame me.” It means that if the mayor comes looking for his money and finds it missing, Angela should blame it on her.
Angela closes the wall, takes the keys, and leaves in search of her sister.
She finds her a few blocks away, carrying a suitcase. They get into an argument regarding the money. While Angela advises her sister against keeping it, Jessica wants to live freely.

If it means getting away from her city forever, she is in for it.
Angela argues that the people who the money belongs to are dangerous but Jessica isn’t bothered.
She even asks the former to come along, but a voicemail from Marcela makes Angela say that she has a life to get back to.
However, when they sit down and she gives it a thought, Angela tells her a secret that she doesn’t want to be a mother.
Moreover, she hates kids. And Marcela calls her Piru because she is a pyromaniac.
Before she can push Jessica into telling her a secret, she notices a few men around them and gets paranoid.
Angela rushes Jessica out of the place and asks her to run. She thinks they are surrounded by Chichi’s guys.
Plus, she feels, by now they must have realized the sisters have run with their money, which is why dangerous people are following them.
On their way, they come across a luxury showroom and decide to buy a car.
When they check out an automobile stationed inside, they see Severino and Ezequiel talking outside.
The girls quickly try to hide themselves, only getting back to normal once the duo leaves.
The attendant asks them about the mode of payment, and Jessica answers that they will pay in Euros.
It takes him by surprise as paying in Euros is not usual. The attendant says that he will have to check and goes inside his cabin to make a phone call.
His move is accompanied by the sound of sirens coming from outside. This worries the sisters and they rush outside thinking that the retailer has turned them in.
Their run continues for some time and stops only when the sirens fade away. The sisters then indulge in a talk.
Jessica says that she likes to sing but only inside her head. She is too embarrassed to sing aloud. It is her secret.
She then says she is leaving and walks away with the suitcase. Suddenly, Angela hears Marcelo’s voice.
She turns around to find him on a screen. As he works in the security line, he is tasked with building surveillance due to the growing number of delinquents.
While talking to him, Angela consistently looks behind. Jessica is standing with the suitcase, waiting for her.
After internally deciding on what she should do, Angela finally tells Marcelo that she will not be returning home.
Marcelo is surprised but still focused more on his job. He asks for the reason and Angela calls herself the delinquent he is looking for.
She then walks off, throws her phone in the dustbin, and meets Jessica. They decide to take a taxi to the station.
However, things change when Jessica finds a photo in her jacket’s pocket. It is a picture of Angela with their dad.
Angela calls it her only memory with him. However, Jessica advises her to throw the photograph away or tear it because their father was a corrupt man.
This triggers Angela. They get into an argument and Jessica says their dad never really cared for them and hurt everyone, including their mothers.
Eventually, she decides to go alone and transfers some money from the suitcase into her backpack before leaving.

Angela zips the suitcase back and leaves, too.
She goes to the park, where she sees Osterfil joining Severino and Ezequiel. The trio looks lively and talks about a big revelation, which worries the girl.
On the other hand, Jessica is stopped at the security check-in. The security personnel ask her to open her bag and when she does, they find a stack of cash inside.
Thinking that she is a delinquent on the run, they hand her over to the cops.
Angela comes across a slideshow of digital advertisements as she walks on the pathway.
One of the ads has a father and daughter duo making a sand castle on the beach.
Interestingly, the poster is a lookalike of the photograph she is carrying.
Angela thinks for a while and gets emotional before burning the picture in her hand. As the ashes fly in the air, she sees a police vehicle carrying Jessica inside.
She quickly rushes to the police station and bribes the cops, offering them all the money inside her suitcase in exchange for her sister.
How Angela Mistook Her Own Photograph?
One of the very few memories Angela had of her father was their time at the beach. Even her dad’s secretary talked about it.
This is why when she saw the photograph in his diary, she somehow connected the dots and thought it was her with her dad.
Obviously, it sounds ridiculous, but it happens all the time. Not many can recognize their tender selves.
Stranger is the fact that she couldn’t identify her father. This was because she rarely met him. They lived separately and the last she saw him was fifteen years ago.
The cops release Jessica, owing to the bribe offered by Angela. The sisters hug each other in joy before heading to the apartment.
They find the Mayor, his men, and the secretary waiting outside. Their fears finally wane when the secretary brings a diary from upstairs and hands it over to the Mayor.
Yes, it wasn’t the money the Mayor wanted but the diary. All the fear turned out to be just paranoia.
What Did They Do with the Money?
They donated some money to the school Angela used to work at and gave some of it to Jessica’s mother.
With the rest of the cash, they began a new life far away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Who Did the Cash Belong to?
(Un)lucky Sisters doesn’t reveal the real owner of the money. It was probably Ernesto’s. However, whether he earned it honestly cannot be said.
Were the Cops Really Behind the sisters?
No, they were just being paranoid. Everybody around them was busy with their work but when you are doing something wrong, you ought to feel that all eyes are on you.
