Disney+ Hotstar recently came up with a new Hindi Web Series. Titled Bad Cop, the show is a weekly release.

It stars Gulshan Deviah and Anurag Kashyap in lead roles.

Here is the detailed recap of Bad Cop episode 1.

Bad Cop Hotstar Series Episode 1 Recap

The show begins with a woman (Shreya) honey-trapping a rich man in a hotel room. While he tries to get intimate with her, the lady’s partner (Arjun) comes roaring at the door and catches them in the act.

In anger, he shoots Shreya. Seeing her die, the man faints. It appears that he is having a heart attack.

Shocked to see him fall down, Arjun wakes up Shreya and it is revealed that they were hand-in-glove to blackmail the man and loot him.

Caught unaware, the duo checks the internet for a solution. They conclude that he may be having a panic attack instead of a heart attack.

Meanwhile, cops arrive at their door, thanks to the gunshot sound earlier on.

They take his bank account details and leave the room through the windows. The man gives in easily because they have his video of getting cozy with Shreya.

On their way out, Arjun and Shreya come across a man stabbing another. They try to interrupt and the stabber runs away.

Arjun tries to save the wounded man and tries to talk to him. However, the latter grabs him tightly without uttering a word.

He further scratches his arm before eventually passing out. The duo runs away in a shocked state, leaving the dead man in the lobby.

The character of a cop is introduced in the next scene, which is set inside a police station. Interestingly, Inspector Karan looks exactly like Arjun.

He, along with his subordinate, is interrogating a criminal, who tells them with surety that a specific consignment will arrive at Bhaucha Dhakka later tonight.

It appears that he has already beaten the shit out of the guy.

While they are at it, Karan’s senior officer enters the room and directs him to not go out of line.

Once she is out, he warns the offender that if his information turns out to be false, he will break him badly.

The senior officer disapprovingly looks at the happenings through the CCTV camera.

The intro stamp plays out.

We are shown a jungle where several poachers kill an elephant.

Immediately after this, the scene shifts to that of Ganpati celebrations, where Kazbe, a dreaded man, played by Anurag Kashyap, leads the prayers.

He is then transported to a prison, where Kazbe is greeted by everyone with respect.

Inside his cell, a man comes to meet him and refers to him as his uncle.

He talks about a consignment being on the way but someone is asking for more money to let it pass through customs.

Kazbe says that he should have dealt with the problem on his own instead of coming to him.

Moreover, he can even sacrifice his own bloodline for his business.

Their meeting concludes with the guy promising to finish the task himself. Moreover, his ego is hurt when Kazbe asks him to call him “boss” instead of uncle.

On the other hand, the hotel murder case is handed over to the CIB, led by Arif Khan. It is revealed that the victim’s name was Anand Mishra, and he was a journalist.

Furthermore, he was a dear friend of Arif. The state police inform him about the two accused (Arjun and Shreya), who first conned a man and then left the hotel after murdering Anand Mishra.

Arif orders to send the DNA samples from the victim’s nails for rapid testing. In a setback to the investigation, the Hotel’s CCTV cameras went off right at the time of the murder and came back after the accused left the place.

Khan fiercely tells the cop in charge to squarely focus on the case. If need be, he will handle the commissioner but they should not be complacent in the investigation.

Arjun and Shreya are still running away in the car. The former is confused as to why Mishra held him tightly and injured him with his nails in the process.

They dump the car on the way, freshen up, and steal a new car before hitting the road again.

At this point, a crucial flashback plays out.

The Flashback:

Two kids, who were born together, keep each other’s backs while living in an orphanage. They believe that since they were born together, they will die together as well.

One of them says that even if the other one were to die, he would sacrifice his life for him.

Shreya asks him if he can call Karan for assistance. However, Arjun says that Karan’s wife, Devika, would make a scene if she learned about the same.

Since the matter is big, he must meet Karan in person.

In the next scene, it is revealed that Karan and Devika (the senior officer who we saw at the police station) are married.

She is having her dinner when Karan enters the house. She offers him food but he denies it and says he would eat outside.

A fight ensues between the couple and both talk in utterly loud voices.

Devika thinks that till the time they were employed at the same level, everything was fine. However, ever since she has been promoted, issues have started to creep in.

She believes that Karan cannot take orders from a woman, but the latter vehemently denies the allegation.

He thinks that her promotion and success have gone to her head. Hence, she likes to insult him in front of everybody at the police station by making him run errands.

But Devika has the theory that he cannot process the fact that she got promoted while he was not even considered.

The fight peaks when Karan accuses her of licking the boots of her seniors, which is why she got promoted.

Both order each other to leave the house and cry for a divorce. But their young daughter wakes up due to the noise and Devika goes to attend her.

Karan exits the house and meets his junior Raahil outside.

Together, they leave for Bhaucha Dhakka.

All this while Arjun and Shreya were waiting outside for a visual of Karan.

They trail the officers with the goal of finding Karan alone and having a conversation with him. Arjun cannot call him because his phone is dead and he doesn’t remember Karan’s number.

The cops reach the site but Karan is surprised to find the place quiet. If a delivery was supposed to happen there, it should have been a bit busy.

We see the visuals of armed criminals hiding in the vicinity.

Devika receives a call from her informer. He tells her that Karan’s life is in danger at the said location. She gets active and calls for immediate backup.

Arjun appears out of nowhere and stands in front of Karan, who is amused upon seeing him unexpectedly.

He is quick to presume that Arjun must be in a problem. Else, he wouldn’t have risked meeting him.

Arjun confesses that he is in some deep shit and only Karan can save him.

But the latter advises him to leave the place and meet him somewhere safe later on.

Before they can converse any further, the attack from the criminals begins.

The sound of bullets takes over the place.

Karan puts up a fight while Arjun tries to dodge the surprise assault.

We see that the man who had gone to meet Kazbe in the prison is himself leading the attack. The battle continues for a while with Raahil losing his life to a gunshot.

Some breathtaking action visuals make things enticing for the viewers. Karan gives Arjun a gun to defend himself and the two then overpower the gang of delinquents.

However, they are too few to entirely win the battle and hence, they decide to run with criminals shooting them from behind.

They reach a cliff and decide to jump down into the river but just before they can take off, both suffer multiple shots before falling into the water.

The cops find Arjun during a search operation and take him to the hospital, confusing him for Karan.

Devika is devastated and feels guilty for fighting with her husband moments before the attack. She stays by his side in the hospital as he fights for his life, assuming that Arjun is Karan.

Arif Khan illegally obtains access to the DNA data bank and checks for matches against the DNA they obtained from Mishra’s nails.

The results match Arjun’s DNA, indicating he is the killer.
