It also marked Ramona’s entry in the season. She requests Nikolai for the task to kill Kleo and he agrees.
Kleo Season 2 Ending Explained and Episode 6 Recap
Scenes of a spacecraft taking flight mark the beginning of the final episode. Nikolai watches it with interest but he is interrupted by the arrival of Uwe, dressed in military uniform.
He introduces himself as the guy who spoke with him on the phone earlier. Uwe goes on to offer his skills in the form of finishing Kleo.
Ramona comes from behind and Uwe is shocked to see her. He addresses her as Anja. Nikolai tells him that Ramona is designated to take care of Kleo and asks him to leave.
However, Uwe is still dumbfounded, learning that Anja is Ramona. He angrily walks out, whispering abuses in her ears.

Swen and Kleo arrive at the Moscow airport. A woman picks them up and takes them to Nikolai’s mother’s place, which is in the middle of a farm.
Kleo tries to control her emotions while on the way. She is yet to come to terms with the fact that Nikolai is her father.
They get out of the car and Akulina greets her with words filled with love. However, Kleo doesn’t know who she is.
Akulina then introduces herself as Kleo’s grandmother. She hugs her and invites her inside for tea. Kleo’s eyes strike a tall statue just outside her hut.
Apparently, it is called Mother Homeland, Akulina’s latest work. Kleo praises it and then they proceed inside.
Her grandmother offers Kleo donuts to eat and says that she used to love them as a child. She smells the donut and realizes she was here before.
Akulina goes on to tell her that she used to spend almost every summer at her place.
Kleo asks why suddenly is she showering so much love on her when for all these years, she stayed away.
Her grandma calls what happened in the past tragic. She says Nikolai was a good father but her mother went on to destroy everything.
Furthermore, she shows her a photo album, in which most of the photos show Nikolai standing by her daughter’s side.
All Akulina wants is for Kleo to respect Nikolai as her father.
But Kleo says she cannot let him spread his poor ideology across the world. She will stop him at any cost.
Her stubbornness, determination, and relentlessness resemble Nikolai’s, according to Akulina.
The old lady says she is not worried about him but her. Had she not been there, Kleo would have died already.
Even though he is a loving father, he will not spare a thought before killing her own daughter for his end goal.
Kleo will have to die if she doesn’t get out of his way. Kleo apologizes for not agreeing to her demands before leaving the place.
Akulina calls her son to inform him that Kleo was there.
Sven tries to persuade Kleo to settle for a more peaceful solution but the latter calls it impossible. They go to Natasha’s place, who is Kleo’s friend.
After initial greetings, a few drinks, and some chitchat, a phone call for Kleo changes the friendly mood.
It is Nikolai. Kleo takes the phone and talks to him for the first time as a daughter in ages.
He starts with Nikola’s feedback after their meeting and how he already knew that Kleo wouldn’t budge.
Then Nikolai says that he wanted to name her Nadeshda, which means hope, after the second wife of their leader Joseph Stalin.
Kleo replies that Nadeshda killed herself and Stalin is the same guy who sent her sister to the Gulag.

Nikolai expresses some kind words for her daughter. He tells her that he is proud of her and apologizes for not being there.
Kleo calls Fabian her father whom he had murdered. In Nikolai’s words, Fabian took everything from him, including his wife and daughter. Hence, he deserved to die.
Kleo asks if her mother deserved to die as well. But Nikolai says he did it only because she stood in his way.
And he will do the same to Kleo if she tries to stop him.
Kleo replies saying what if she kills him first. But Nikolai counters her that it is not easy to kill one’s father, as evident from an earlier instance when she had the chance to shoot him.
Calling him a monster whom she will surely finish, Kleo ends the call.
Swen asks her if she is okay and Kleo nods in response.
On being asked, Swen tells her that he was wrong about her being rigid. She can change and she has changed, indeed.
Kleo smiles and expresses that one can always change how things turn out. And eventually, it is even possible to change the world.
Swen motivates her with inspiring words. They share a drink and sleep together.
The next morning, while they are at the breakfast table, news plays out on the TV that the German chancellor has announced there won’t be any monetary union due to reservations by the USA.
In essence, it means that Nicolai has the pact. However, Kleo says they will take it back today itself.
Natasha shows him the newspaper, according to which, Nikolai will go to the State Theater Premier today to watch ballet.
Using it to their benefit, they will go to the KGB and find the documents. Apparently, Natasha’s mother works there and will help them.
They reach the KGB and station outside while Natasha’s mother starts her trick. She delivers mail to officers inside, asking them to open the boxes immediately.
One of the mailboxes has smoke grenades. As soon as the box is opened by an officer, the whole building gets enveloped in smoke.
Thereafter, news spreads out that there is a fire, and hence, the fire brigade steps in. Kleo disguises herself as a firefighter and gets in.
Some guards confront Swen, who is waiting outside in his car. They take him to Nikolai. He tells him to not wait for Kleo as she is dead and directs him to go back home.
However, Swen says, he knows how tough Kleo is. She will not die and overcome any situation. Further, he is not worried about her but Nikolai himself as she is going to kill him soon.
Inside, Kleo gets into Nikolai’s room and examines things, including the model of a rocket on the table.
She grabs a paper with a government seal on it thinking it might come in handy later on.
Her eyes strike a family picture, where she and her parents are standing in front of a tower.
Kleo goes into a deep state of musing before Ramona attacks her from behind and makes her unconscious.
She wakes up, tied to a chair, and is surprised to see Ramona. Kleo inquires about her child and the latter answers genially.
Ramona says she has been ordered to kill her. But Kleo’s fearless approach to life has got her thinking.
Even though Kleo could have killed her in Chile, she didn’t. She made a choice and stood by it, not relying on ‘orders’.
Ramona calls herself frail because she does what they ask her to do, unlike Kleo.
She unties Kleo’s hands and puts her gun down, giving it to her instead because she deserves it more than her.
Moreover, Ramona says that Kleo’s way is the right one and she is not going to take orders from anyone anymore.
While she continues speaking, Uwe walks into the room and shoots her in the forehead. Ramona dies.
A cat-and-mouse chase begins between Kleo and Uwe before she promises a dead Ramona that she will kill Uwe.
After a long chase, Uwe shoots Kleo in the hand. However, she manages to fool him somehow and fires a bullet in his chest.
Uwe dies.
Kleo then goes to Natasha’s house, where Swen is waiting for her.
He gives him first aid, helped by Natasha.
Kleo tells him that the pact was not at the KGB and that she knows where it is.

She shows him the picture she had found in Nikolai’s room and says the pact is in the tower in the background, which is the Monument to the Conquerors of Space.
Swen rightly questions the idea behind her thought. Kleo says whenever she dreams about the past, she sees a little cosmonaut. It cannot be a coincidence.
This infuriates Swen. He doesn’t think she should rely on her dreams.
Kleo mentions the model of a rocket on Nikolai’s table and then connects everything before concluding again that the pact is surely inside the tower.
Even though Swen is not ready to believe her, Kleo assumes courage when Natasha brings two military uniforms from inside her almirah.
Now, they have a disguise to enter the tower. Plus, Kleo pins a medal on Swen’s shirt as icing on the cake.
Kleo is also scared but Swen trusts her that she will be okay.
They drink vodka before leaving for their final mission.
The scene cuts to Thilo’s party, where Ciana makes an entry. He talks to her while high and they kiss.
Just as a side note, all their visual adventures are not real. They are just the results of them being high on drugs.
Kleo and Swen, disguised as military officers, reach the tower. They show the officer on guard a fake letter authorizing them to take the safe. (The letter with the government’s seal helps her here)
He allows them and they go inside. The duo finds the safe and, before opening it, has an argument regarding its security code.
Kleo then makes some incorrect attempts before finally entering her date of birth as the correct combination.
They find a polybag inside containing the pact. However, they don’t check it and start celebrating. Swen asks if they should kiss but Kleo says no.
Swiftly, they step out of the tower to find the guard dead. Rose’s voice attracts their attention and she asks for the pact. In return, she is ready to give Kleo a letter that is meant for her.
Apparently, it contains a piece of information that can change Kleo’s life. However, Kleo declines the offer and says the only way to have the pact is by killing her.
Rose aims her gun at Kleo but before she can pull the trigger, Nikolai shoots her from behind and Rose dies.
He appreciates Kleo for her efforts in finding the pact but the latter aims the gun at him. Nikolai provokes her to pull the trigger.
He believes that she can never kill her father and asks for the pact. Kleo lowers the gun and asks if he can shoot her own daughter.
Meanwhile, she takes out the documents from the bag and burns them using a lighter. A pissed Nikolai shoots her but Swen comes in between and takes the bullet on his chest.
He falls down. Kleo then shoots her father and Nikolai dies. Swen comes back to his senses to Kleo’s surprise.
The bullet didn’t strike him. Instead, it hit the medal that Kleo had honored him with before leaving Natasha’s house.

They kiss and Kleo tells him that the papers she burnt weren’t the real pact before taking out the real ones from under her socks.
She says that they will change the world together and holds his hand. They walk away.
The scene cuts to a spacecraft in outer space. We see a dressed astronaut/cosmonaut. A voice on the radio informs him that his father has died due to a gunshot injury.
He rolls his hands over a family photograph in which Nikolai and his wife are standing with two kids. The guy in the spacesuit is Harald, Kleo’s twin brother.
Harald asks in return whether Kleo has killed his father and the man replies in a yes and tells him that he is coming back to earth.
Kleo Season 2 ends here.
Who is Harald Straub?
Harald Straub is Kleo’s twin brother. Probably, Kleo doesn’t know about him. And I guess the letter Rose offered in exchange for the pact was about Harald.
By occupation, Harald is an astronaut. More or less, he will return midway from his mission to take revenge for his father’s death.
Who Was Ramona/Anja?
Ramona first appeared in the series in the first season. She was assigned the task of killing Kleo and Ramona almost succeeded.
However, eventually Kleo survived and when she had the chance to kill her, she didn’t. Why? Because she was pregnant and her water broke in front of Kleo.
Not only did she spare her life, Kleo even went on to deliver Ramona’s baby on her own.
It is why Ramona didn’t kill her in the second season.
Will There Be Kleo Season 3?
Yes, going by the story, Kleo season 3 is highly possible. It can explore Harald Straub going after his twin sister, Kleo Straub, to avenge Nikolai’s death.
Did Nikolai Die?
Yes, Nikolai dies in Kleo season 2.
