With Jeong Su-in being made the new Hunting Dog, Episode 3 ended on a drastic note for Parasyte: The Grey.
Let’s quickly see what happens in the fourth episode of this Korean series.
Parasyte: The Grey: Episode 4 Recap
After the mayhem at the amusement park, leading to the capture of Jeong Su-in, the higher-ups in the police force conduct a virtual meeting with Team Grey and the Namil cops.
They are briefed about the present situation.
Choi Jun-kyung emphasizes the fact that Su-in is a parasite and she has seen it with her eyes at the church.
However, Chul-min doesn’t believe her. He backs Su-in as a normal girl in front of everyone present at the meeting.
Moreover, the cop says that if she was a monster, why didn’t the test results say so?

Apparently, after arresting her, the cops had conducted a test to check if Su-in was a parasite. But it returned negative results.
The higher-ups are disappointed as they learn about the absence of parasitic enzymes in her body. It strengthens Chul-min’s case.
However, the captain is furious as she has seen everything unfold in front of her eyes.
Interestingly, she was the only one from the force who saw Su-in convert into a parasite back at the amusement park.
She says that Su-in could be a new type of creature and their current methods of identifying parasites can’t tell them everything.
However, according to Chul-min, her reasons cannot justify putting a young girl under a cage and torturing her to death.
The briefing officer tells the higher-ups that Su-in is currently in a coma. The meeting ends with the order to transfer Su-in to the headquarters to ascertain her probable condition by conducting a thorough study of her body.
Moreover, Team Grey is tasked with finding out more about the parasites before they can inform and reassure the public about them.
Namil cops are ordered to support Team Grey so that the parasite organization is dealt with strictly. Jun-kyung continues to lead the whole operation.
Won-seok puts seeds of further scare in Chul-min’s mind by saying that Su-in might be cut open for thorough research.
While Su-in is in a coma, she opens her eyes inside a dream and finds herself face to face with the organism inside of her, which was given the name Heidi by Kang-woo.
From here on, I will refer to the parasite version of Su-in as Heidi.
To save her from dying, Heidi has split her consciousness from the outside world and now they are deep inside a place where Su-in’s spirit dwells.
Heidi shows instances from Su-in’s past starting with the day of her father’s arrest.
Why Was Su-in’s father arrested?
Su-in’s father used to abuse her mother, which is why she left and married another man. However, once an abuser always an abuser. The man started beating Su-in before she complained to the police. Her actions led to a social backlash within her locality. No good daughter reports her father, they said.
In the next memory, the little girl goes to see her mother one day to check if she still misses her.
Instead, she comes face to face with the harsh reality of her loving her new son more than Su-in.
She didn’t show any interest in her and asked her to go away forever.
The incident made Su-in sadder and strengthened her view that nobody loved her.
However, Heidi consoles her saying her mother didn’t want to see her not because Su-in was bad, but because she brought back the memories of her abusive dad.
Their conversation moves ahead with Su-in expressing extreme displeasure at Heidi occupying her body.
But Heidi reminds her that had she not entered her body, both of them would have died.
On the other hand, cops dig up information about Kang-woo. They reveal the following things to Chul-min:
What is Kang-woo’s story in Parasyte: The Grey?
He was a member of the Mangnani gang, which was at war with the Yeongdeungpo Cheolis gang. Kang-woo’s gang had sent him to murder a boss of the rival gang but he failed (first episode). Later, his gang dumped him to make amends with the Yeongdeungpo guys and gave up on him.
Chul-min is told that Kang-woo is probably headed towards another region. Hence, he can be found in transport areas like the bus terminal.
The cop decides to go after him alone and catches him inside a bus. Despite some resistance, he succeeds in handcuffing him.
Kang-woo tells him about Won-seok and how he killed The Hunting Dog.
Moreover, he thinks that Won-seok is himself a monster.
A shocked Chul-min confirms his identity by showing him a picture of the staff at the police station.
Thereafter, Kang-woo tells him everything about him and Su-in truthfully.
The cop frees him and puts up a prospect in front of him to save Su-in before she is transferred to the Grey Headquarters.
If Kang-woo helps him get Su-in back, he will make a deal with the Grey Team and protect him at any cost.
Su-in and Kang-woo can give them more information about the parasites and get immunity in return.
Initially, the youngster walks away but comes back soon enough, and the two hatch a plan to take out the girl from the police station.
Won-seok leaks precise information about Su-in’s transfer to the pastor to help him kill her.
According to their plan, Kang-woo enters the Namil Police Station using the access key provided by Chul-min and sneaks into the locker room.
Since the task force was formed only recently, Chul-min predicts nobody would be able to recognize him.
Inside the room, he comes across a trained professional and manages to take him out with pepper spray.
When he is about to get the remote that controls Su-in’s helmet, Jun-kyung appears from behind and orders an early departure.
She takes the remote and assigns Kang-woo the responsibility of being inside the container with Su-in, considering him a regular cop.
Chul-min is disappointed upon finding out their plan has failed and as the cavalry readies itself for departure, he decides to trail them in his car.
Won-seok enters his car and voluntarily travels with him. The entire police force guards the container on its way to the Grey Headquarters.
Halfway through the route, the troops find themselves in a traffic jam.
But in reality, most of the people congesting the road are not humans but parasites.

Thanks to Won-seok’s help earlier, the monsters get in the way to kill Su-in.
A full-fledged battle between the cops and the parasites follows.
Chaos reigns supreme with parasites continuing to barge in on the road. Cops try to secure the general public while also eliminating the creatures.
However, it seems an impossible task.
Jun-kyung gets injured and falls on the road.
This is when Kang-woo quietly jumps off the container and tries to steal the remote from her but the captain gives him a fight.
A strong wave of parasites forces her to back off. Kang-woo takes the remote and goes back inside the container and unlocks the helmet.
As her last words to Su-in before her dream ends, Heidi reminds her that there are people who always stay by her side.
Therefore, she must not think negatively about herself.
After she regains her consciousness, Kang-woo rescues her from the mayhem via a random car parked on the road.
Won-seok and Jun-kyung try to stop them but fail in their attempt. The former takes the car and chases them alongside Chul-min.
They soon reach an isolated dark alley and Chul-min senses a change in his colleague’s behavior, specifically when he takes a sudden right turn straying away from the path of following Su-in.
Kang-woo informs the girl that the cop accompanying Chul-min is a monster, which worries Su-in.
Moreover, she experiences a brain wave and forces him to stop the vehicle immediately. She then gets out to find her cop friend.
Won-seok takes Chul-min to a junkyard and explains to him that it was money that brought him to the parasite organization.
He was unsatisfied with his police job, which eventually made him take such an unethical decision.
He further states that the Saejin Church is different. Things are more intelligent and easier to grasp over there. Hence, he chose to side with the monsters. He even offers Chul-min to join them.
While they talk, the Pastor makes an entry. Chul-min shoots him and the pastor falls down. However, the parasite comes out of his head and uses its tentacles to enter Chul-min’s body.
Therefore, in case you wonder later on, Chul-min turned into a parasite in Episode 4 of Parasyte: The Grey.
Su-in reaches the location and witnesses the cop turn into a monster. Heidi takes over her body and gives fight to Chul-min, a parasite now.
Won-seok tries to shoot down Heidi but Kang-woo runs him over with his car but the cop survives. He then takes Heidi in and they run away via the car.
Chul-min tells Won-seok that the two of them desire self-preservation and are not dangerous for the parasite organization at the moment. Hence, they need not catch them.
On the other hand, Heidi tells Kang-woo that Su-in needs time to process such a huge change in dynamics with Chul-min turning into a parasite.
