Exterritorial Movie Ending Explained
After a scuffle with Kynch in the swimming pool, Sara manages to find a safe house within the premises. This also signifies the conclusion of the one-hour period during which the cameras experienced a glitch.
The safe house triggers an idea in her mind. She goes on to create a minor explosive using materials used for cleaning and throws it in one of the corridors, triggering a blast.

Donovan and the other security personnel find Kynch, who directs an officer to follow daily protocol instead of raising an alarm, as suggested by her.
He asks them to continue reporting directly to him instead of involving the higher-ups. Kynch does this since he wants to eliminate Sara, which the higher-ups may not allow.
Donovan is informed of the blast, and all the security rushes to find Sara near the place. Meanwhile, Kynch receives a call from the consul general, Deborah.
She asks him about the current situation and directs him to follow protocol instead of making up fake answers.
This infuriates the man, and he issues shoot-at-sight orders for Sara Wulf.
The security teams activate code red, clearing the entire building and its surrounding areas. Sara takes advantage of the opportunity and reaches the nearby playground.
While kids are being taken to safe places, she gets hold of Kynch’s daughter, Aileen. Sara shows her the recording toy (Mr. Rabbit) she had taken from the cafeteria to win the girl’s trust.
Upon seeing the toy, Aileen, who is initially hesitant, agrees to accompany Sara. Sara takes her to the safe room and calls Kynch from there.
Kynch, as a concerned father, asks Sara about Aileen’s well-being. She lets him talk to her but ends the call by directing him to bring Josh back if he wants his daughter to stay alive.
Meanwhile, Sara turns off the air supply, further evoking fear in Kynch’s mind.
He asks Donovan if they can turn it back from outside, but the latter informs him that the safe rooms are self-sufficient and can only be controlled from inside.
Soon, Deborah also arrives at the place, followed by Aileen’s concerned mother.
Deborah tries to talk to Sara and convince her to return the girl. In turn, she tries to tell the lady that Kynch is corrupt and responsible for eight deaths.
As expected, Deborah brushes off her allegations, thinking that she is mentally unwell. Sara then asks her to bring Kynch to the call, and Deborah obliges.
Wulf asks Kynch if he is willing to put his daughter’s life at risk just for the sake of his reputation.

The man, in turn, tries to manipulate her by mentioning that Aileen is innocent and that Sara is not someone who would murder a child.
Shortly after the call disconnects, Aileen begins to feel the effects of oxygen deprivation. Sara’s motherly side, combined with her clear conscience, makes her turn on the air supply.
She informs Kynch that she will let the child go, but in return, she wants to talk to him alone, inside the safe room.
Kynch agrees, and the deal materializes. He walks inside, and the doors close again. Sara doesn’t turn off the mic of the telephone and tries to get a confession out of him.
Wulf tells him that she knows he will not release her kid until she is alive. And hence, she will kill herself inside the safe room by turning off the oxygen supply once he walks out.
Sara, on the other hand, wants him to swear to her that he will take Josh to his grandmother after her passing.
Kynch, aware of her antics, first turns off the mic and then pushes her to the ground.
Pushed into a corner, Sara finally asks the penultimate question: Why did Kynch do what he did in Exterritorial?
And this is his answer:
Why Did Kynch Kidnap Josh in Exterritorial?
Well, Sara was just icing on the cake for Kynch. What Kynch genuinely desired was to eliminate Kira. He had to somehow make her vanish, which is why he had sent kidnappers into her room.
His plan was to bring Sara to the consulate building, which he did by sending her a job offer, and kidnap her son on the premises, which would make her furious.
And then, amid the hubbub, he would get Kira abducted for the pen drive, putting all the blame on Sara, an ex-soldier with a history of mental issues post the incident in Afghanistan.
Additionally, he made sure to edit the security footage to prove that Wulf had gone nuts.
It was all planned to finish two targets in one go: getting the evidence from Kira and killing Sara, who was the only witness left from Afghanistan.
He deliberately let Sara loose on the premises to cause havoc in search of her son.
However, Sara saw the bag exchange and learned about Martello’s side business, which led her to enter the other building. Kynch further lost his ground when she met Kira Wolkow.
To save her life, she even killed the two trained assassins who had come to abduct Kira. None of it was part of the plan.
Kynch goes on to rant about how the system betrayed him after he was injured on the field. He accuses the administration of undervaluing him, leading to the emergence of corruption within him.
On killing eight people, Kynch says he didn’t know the intel he was selling would lead to such a catastrophe.
He even apologizes to her for the same. Sara screams and asks him to stop whining and leave the safe room.
But Kynch gets up and shoots her in the gut before shooting himself in the knee. He then goes out and tells everyone that Sara has her gun, indicating that she has gone hostile.
They place explosives on the safe room’s door and aim their guns at it. But before the timer could go off to trigger a blast, an injured Sara crawls to the telephone, turns on the mic, and plays a recording in Mr. Rabbit, Aileen’s toy.
Yes, the conversation with Kynch was her plan to get a confession out of him.
Deborah instructs her personnel to hold fire, and, by the time the whole recording plays out, Kynch is exposed in front of everyone.
He and Donovan are taken into custody while Deborah ensures Sara gets the required medical attention.

They find Josh stuffed behind a secret door in one of the rooms of the consulate.
Exterritorial takes an eight-week leap. In the final scene, we see Sara at her home, talking to Kira on the phone. They discuss the happenings and have a friendly chat.
The film ends on a happy note, indicating that Sara is gradually getting into a better mental state.
What Happened to Martello in Exterritorial?
Martello, the IT guy who had helped Sara and Kira avoid the cameras and who was involved in the drug business, has been on the run ever since that day.
What Happened to Kynch in Exterritorial?
Sara Wulf exposed Kynch’s corrupt practices, leading to his detention in the US.
Who was Kira Wolkow, and what evidence did she have?
She was part of one of the richest families in Belarus, and her father was a criminal. He was involved in money laundering with the help of the authorities.
However, when he switched parties and changed his way of operation, those in power got him killed.
Kira was carrying a pen drive that contained evidence about his dealings with the agencies and his death.
It automatically made her a danger and brought her into the direct view of powerful people. She survived by making it to the US Embassy in Minsk.
Kynch received payment for his assistance in obtaining the evidence from Kira. And he was the one who had let the abductors inside the consulate.
Donovan helped him in all his pursuits, eventually going to the jail with him.
What Happened to Josh? Did Josh Die in Exterritorial?
No, Josh didn’t die in the film. He was rescued by the security officials after they took Kynch into custody. Kynch had kept him in a secret room within the premises.
