The fourth episode gave the parasites a new host body in Chul-min, leaving Su-in emotional and heartbroken.

Here is what happens next.

Parasyte: The Grey: Episode 4 Recap

Episode 5 begins with the flashback story of Kang-woo’s younger sister, Jin-hee. I will explain it under the below headline.

How Did Jin-hee Die in Parasyte: The Grey?

One night, she goes home after finishing work and calls her friend, Ki-seok. She asks him about Kang-woo.

He suggests that she should send him a text on social media since he hardly ever answers phone calls.

Upon reaching home, she sees her elder sister, Kyung-hee (already a parasite), walking out of the house with the pastor of the Saejin Church, Kwon Hyuk-ju.

She asks her sister about him and then blames him for not allowing her to go to the hospital.

Jin-hee is agitated listening to his farce and religious replies and emphasizes the fact that her sister must go to the hospital no matter what.

Eventually, the pastor ascertains that she might become a threat later on and kills her vehemently with the help of his comrades.

However, just before dying, Jin-hee is able to send a message to Kang-woo on social media.

Why Did the Pastor Not Want Kyung-hee to Go to the Hospital?

If she had gone to the hospital, the authorities would have cut her open and found out that she was a parasite. Hence, the pastor suggested her to stay away from the Hospital.

The flashback ends and the story returns to the present time.

Now, Kang-woo calls Ki-seok from Jin-hee’s phone and asks if he can crash at his place. He reluctantly agrees to send his apartment’s entry code since he is out for the time being.

However, a twist sabotages their plan when Kyung-hee accesses the code through Jin-hee’s computer and hence, discovers their next hideout.

In another meeting with the higher-ups, it is decided that the cops should share information with the public to make them aware and get their help in tracing the pack of parasites currently hiding somewhere.

But the issue takes a drastic turn when a representative of a soon-to-be-held music festival doesn’t agree with the cops’ demand to delay the event.

According to him, the music festival is important both socially and politically.

The event will commend a war hero and Namcheon’s mayor is also supposed to be there.

He warns of reporting the developments to the mayor if the music festival is canceled.

In the end, the higher-ups give Jun-kyung three days to end the parasite fiasco so that the music festival can go on as planned.

Won-seok shows the X-ray report of Su-in to Chul-min and he ascertains that she is a mutant though her kind is yet to be discerned.

Kyung-hee calls him to inform about Su-in’s whereabouts and assures him that she can take her out alone. He directs her to come to the meeting place after dispatching Su-in.

Kang-woo and Su-in reach Ki-seok’s apartment. Sensing the need for money, the former asks him to bring two million won when he returns home.

He says that they should use the money to run and hide somewhere safe. But Su-in doesn’t agree with him.

She wants to inform Jun-kyung about all that they know, for she is the only person in the station Su-in can trust.

Kang-woo is unsure whether they can trust the police or not. They watch an interview with the police chief where he assures all citizens of swift action to eliminate the monsters.

The police station is abuzz with distress calls from various parts of the region ever since the parasite news was made official.

Amid the rush, Won-seok and Chul-min approach the Team Grey captain with a lead indicating the location of a possible parasite hideout in Namil-Gun.

However, Jun-kyung is reluctant to believe them. Chul-min shows her the pantry symbol, which was also reported alongside. The captain believes them because the symbol wasn’t made public yet.

After the information was received, Chul-min sent undercover cops to investigate the matter.

They came back with pictographic evidence showing that people have been gathering at that specific place for quite some time now.

Jun-kyung expresses doubt as to why didn’t the monsters go away after Namil-gun became a top priority for the police.

However, Won-seok succeeds in convincing her about the growing intelligence of the monsters.

They are sitting right under their nose because the cops would hardly look there.

The captain agrees to launch an attack at sunrise.

On the other hand, Su-in secretly calls Jun-kyung and tells her that Chul-min and Won-seok are parasites.

But the captain is unconvinced. Eventually, the duo decides to meet at a café to clear any apprehensions.

Ki-seok arrives at his apartment and gives Kang-woo the money he had asked for. He further tells him about his conversation with Jin-hee earlier.

Kang-woo takes out his sister’s phone and finds a saved message in it.

The text warns him to never come back to her house, no matter what.

This also reveals that on the night of her death, Jin-hee was killed before she could press the ‘send’ button.

Upon reading the message, Kang-woo is emotionally broken. He asks for his friend’s car and heads downtown.

Jun-kyung reaches the café and is told by the receptionist that Su-in is waiting for her on the terrace.

When the Captain goes upstairs, she finds Su-in on the terrace of the building in front as a precautionary measure.

The girl repeats her warnings regarding Chul-min and Won-seok. Jun-kyung takes note of her accusations but brings to her attention the intel report brought by Chul-min and Won-seok.

The girl calls it a trap to kill police personnel by throwing a bait and gathering them all in one place.

But the captain wants her to join them and help them fight off the parasites, speaking sarcastically.

In essence, she wants to capture Heidi, which would also give her the confidence to retest the two cops in question.

Three cops come from behind and point weapons at Su-in while Jun-kyung continues to persuade her to peacefully come with them.

Heidi takes over Su-in and she jumps off the terrace.

Kang-woo, who is roaming around downtown in his friend’s vehicle, hears gunshots and follows the sound.

He comes across Heidi and takes her in. Heidi informs him that for the next three hours, Su-in must stay away from danger.

She has been under her body’s control for the majority of the time recently.

Hence, she must stay passive for at least three hours to keep her healthy. Heidi goes back and her body becomes unconscious.

Kyung-hee reaches Ki-seok’s apartment and uses his passcode to enter the place. The latter calls Kang-woo and tells him about Kyung-hee.

Both Su-in and Kang-woo are shocked to learn about the same.

He tells him to run away as soon as possible but before Ki-seok can do it, the elder sister takes out her tentacles and puts him on edge.

She then takes his phone and gives fifteen minutes to the duo to reach the house or else she would kill their friend.

Su-in tells Kang-woo that they must go and save Ki-seok. She plans to act like Heidi in front of the parasite and lure her into believing that she is on their side.

But at the house, Kyung-hee identifies her at the very first instance. A fight ensues between them and the parasite.

Eventually, Kyung-hee kills Ki-seok while the duo succeeds in running away. Kang-woo finds it difficult to handle himself, having lost his friend in front of his eyes.

Jun-kyung plans the sunrise attack at the police station. She tests the corrupt cops by asking if they would join the strike team when it heads in.

Chul-min answers positively. When the force leaves for the operation, the captain sneakily chops some hair strands off Won-seok’s head but they don’t disappear.

At the operation site, Chul-min and his colleague appear to be helping Jun-kyung.

Till now, she has no reason to believe they are parasites. She conveys the same to Kang-woo and Su-in on the phone.

But they continue to advise her to call off the operation and give more priority to human lives than a music festival.

Kang-woo tells her that it was Won-seok who killed the Hunting Dog using a weird iron knife.

The captain suggests they record the call and give the recording to General Kim Sang-su in case the operation turns out to be a trap and she dies while on the field.

In the next few minutes, the cops enter the pantry and engage in a deadly battle against the parasites stationed inside.

Strangely, Won-seok and Chul-min continue assisting in killing the parasites.

Kyung-hee, who was told by Chul-min to reach the pantry after dealing with Su-in, sees the duo kill parasites as she arrives at the place on a bus.

Chul-min makes eye contact with her and proceeds to shoot her but is stopped by Won-seok. Kyung-hee calls it a betrayal.

Meanwhile, when the operation is successful, it beats Kang-woo and Su-in’s mind as to why the two cops killed their own kin.

That’s when Kang-woo’s eyes meet the poster of Namcheon’s Mayor on the roadside.

The fifth episode of Parasite: The Grey ends with the conclusion that Chul-min and Won-seok’s main target is the Mayor, a perfect host body that can influence the masses. They wanted the music festival to happen and hence, helped the police in eliminating the parasite hideout.
