Amazon’s latest Hindi web series, Daldal, starring prominent actress Bhumi Pednekar, finally launched on the platform last week.
It is a crime thriller and is based on a book. The show follows the life of Rita Ferreira, a female police officer.
In this blog, I will try to shed light on the show’s final episode and explain its ending.
The sixth episode addresses questions about Anant’s past, such as why she was named after a boy rather than her true female name.

Not just her, the episode also brings to the fore information about Rita’s past. Her issues with her mother and how she tried to kill her.
But the biggest event of the episode was that Rita’s drug supplier opened his mouth in front of the other cops.
His video revelation of Rita being his regular drug customer goes viral online.
Now, let us have a look at how things pan out in the final episode of Daldal, now streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
Daldal Ending Explained and Episode 7 Recap
Struggling with her mental state, Rita has dinner at Indu Mhatre’s house. They share a good meal and an emotional conversation, during which Rita reveals that her mother used to hate her for being like her father.
Indu acts as a good listener and allows her to share her feelings while also trying to keep the scene light.
On the other hand, Anita talks to her uncle and prepares him for one final time. She has planned the perfect revenge: Sajid will kill Uday Acharya.
Rita asks the commissioner for a week’s time, but he only gives her a day, citing pressure from higher-ups.
Jatin, feeling guilty for hurting Rita, tells Mhatre about all his encounters with Anita.
Rita plans a bluff to throw at Sajid. She tells him that Anita died in a shoot-out in an attempt to get him to give her a motive as to why Anita used to kill people.
However, the bluff fails as Sajid doesn’t spill out any beans.
The only thing an emotional Sajid shares is that they only had one good memory of each other, which was when they used to eat out and dance together in the rain.
Rita then reaches out to Jatin, giving him a chance to pay her back for the blunder he committed.
A new plan is put into motion. Jatin calls Anita and tells her a fake ‘exclusive’ news that Sajid has been shot dead by Rita and that he is now in the hospital in a critical condition.
To make it look genuine, Jatin specifically asks her not to reveal his name this time.
Emotionally ambushed, Anita rushes to the hospital.
While she is there, the second part of the plan begins. Rita raids her house and finds the dead body of Uday Acharya inside.

Further, she discovers hair wigs, among other things.
Anita meets Jatin in the hospital, who makes him sit and wait for her turn to meet Sajid.
Everything goes according to plan before Anita’s phone shows an alert on the CCTV cameras installed inside her house.
She can clearly see the raid, led by Rita.
Her escape plan begins. She manages to get inside the washroom, where she kills a nurse and swaps her uniform for her own clothes.
Soon, the cops stationed inside the hospital, led by Jatin and Mhatre, realize there’s a problem and break open the washroom.
A search operation is launched as soon as they realize she has escaped through the window.
The commissioner tells Rita that she has been suspended, and an inquiry commissioner has been asked to set up immediately to look into her potential misconduct.
Rita begs him for one day, but his hands are tied. He orders her to hand over the case to Vikram quickly.
On the other hand, Rita kills Mhatre mercilessly and succeeds in escaping the hospital with ease. Rita keeps calling Mhatre but gets no answer, as Anita has taken the phone away.
A call from Jatin informs her about Mhatre, and she breaks down from within. Rita goes to the station and takes it all out on Sajid, beating him left, right, and center.
After taking the thumping, Sajid understands that Anita is still alive.
Rita packs her stuff and prepares to leave the station. Jatin tells her that Mhatre’s body is being taken for a postmortem, and it would be a good thing if she decided to see her one last time.

However, Rita refuses, as she cannot bear to see a loved one depart like this. At this moment, disappointment and guilt are visible on Jatin’s face as if he blames himself for Mhatre’s death.
When Rita and Vikram come face-to-face during the handover, things get intense. Vikram tries to shed his scampy side for once, but Rita clearly catches his bluff.
She later receives a phone call from the receptionist at the child welfare home, where the rescued children were rehabilitated.
However, she doesn’t answer because she’s emotionally invested in thinking about Mhatre.
Why did the receptionist call Rita in the first place?
She called her to inform that Anita had come to the shelter home, but by the time Rita got back to her, things had taken a turn for the worse.
Anita’s Plan
Anita goes to the shelter home and kills the security guard in her trademark style. She later hijacks the place and demands Sajid in exchange for the kids and the caretakers.
She doesn’t make this a public drama. The cops don’t even get to know about this. All she does is call Rita and make the demand.
Now, Rita, suspended from duty, asks Jatin for help, who sneaks out Sajid and gives him to Rita.
On the other hand, the receptionist tries to flee and, as a consequence, loses her life to Rita, who kills her in front of the kids.
The former DCP then calls the commissioner for a favor. She asks for the release of the mothers of the kids lodged at the shelter. Why does she do this?
En route to the child welfare home, Sajid has an interesting conversation with Anita over the phone, and in the presence of Rita.
He asks her to let the children out and not to go forward with her devious plan. Sajid wants Anita to change her murderer mindset and surrender.
But Anita doesn’t budge. She can do anything to get Sajid back, even if it means capturing and killing kids.
They reach the place. Anita asks Rita to uncuff Sajid and then directs Sajid to cuff Rita. While doing it, Sajid persistently requests her to drop the plan and offers to leave together for a new life.
But Anita wants to finish Rita first, to which Sajid doesn’t agree.
She asks him to bring medals from the Medal Room so that she can stuff them in Rita’s mouth after killing her.
When Rita and Anita are alone, the former tries to play with her mind. She says that Sajid has told her everything, from their romantic adventures to their dangerous ones.
Sajid arrives, and Anita confronts him. Sensing that he has been brainwashed, she offers him the knife and asks him to kill Rita.
A loud clamour from outside breaks their attention. The mothers off all the children are screaming their kids’ names.

The kids gather near the window and revert with rejuvenated enthusiasm. This is why Rita asked the commissioner for the particular favour mentioned above.
She wanted to fulfil the promise she had made to the children earlier.
Anita goes towards the room and tries to silence the kids, which doesn’t work. Meanwhile, Rita convinces Sajid to open her handcuffs.
He agrees.
Consequently, a scuffle breaks out between Anita and Rita.
Sajid breaks their fight and holds Anita tightly. They share some words before he grabs her arm, carrying the knife, and slits his own throat.
Rita manages to get the kids out safely. However, Anita, who is even more ferocious than before, unseals the gas cylinders and plans on setting the shelter home on fire.
This triggers Rita. She goes into a flashback from her childhood when her mother did the same thing. Back then, she escaped as a young girl. This time, it might not happen.
Anita takes out a matchstick and commits to her plan. Rita gets thrown away by the gulf of fire. She is injured but not dead, and she can see Rita burning in front.
Rita collects herself and finds a blanket to save Anita.
Soon, the scene gets publicized with media and cops guarding the entrance. Jatin and Vikram take Anita away, while rightly leaving Rita alone to herself.
The scene breaks, and we are shown the last rites of Mhatre from Rita’s point of view. She can see Atharva trying to perform the dance step Mhatre always wanted him to do in front of her.
Thereafter, the show takes a month’s leap.
Rita Ferreira visits her mother’s home for the first time since the fire incident. She reminisces about the past and finally confronts it.
In the final scene of Daldal, she calls her fiancé, Adi, indicating that she wants to give their relationship another shot.
Did Anita Die in Daldal?
No, Anita didn’t die. Though she was almost completely burnt, she was eventually saved by Rita. The cops took her to the hospital.
Who were Anant’s Mother and Father in Daldal?
Anant’s father was Jay Acharya, a police officer, who fell in love with a Russian sex worker named Vivianne.
He was an encounter specialist but was madly in love with Vivianne.
Why was Anita named ‘Anant’ despite being a girl?
Anita’s mother, Vivianne, was a sex worker, and she knew the harsh reality of those times, when even young girls were not spared a thought before being pushed towards indecent ventures.
She named her after a man because she didn’t want people around her to know that she was a girl. If they had, she would have been on the same career path as Vivianne.
Is Daldal based on a true story or is it fictional?
Daldal is based on a book titled ‘Bhendi Bazaar’ by Vish Dhamija.
What Happened to Rita Ferreira in Daldal Ending?
Rita was suspended from duty. She almost died trying to save the kids from Anita’s clutches. Eventually, she found herself with an empty life, which is how she realized the importance of having Adi by her side. Rita called Adi in the final scene of Daldal, but we are not shown what happened later.
